Sometime last year, my friend Niki, gave me a sign that says “Do Small Things With Great Love“. It spoke directly to my heart because it was an answer to prayer. Not the sign itself, but the saying. I live a very busy life (don’t we all?) and if I’m not careful, life can pass by without taking the time to truly love on people. I don’t ever want my to-do lists to keep me from being the hands and feet of Jesus.

This sign sat in my bedroom for several months because I hadn’t taken the time to hang it. But while I was away co-hosting the Declare Conference, my sweet husband hung some signs around our home and this was one of them. His small act of service spoke very loudly to my heart. It said, “I see you and things that are important to you matter to me”.

It just so happened the same day I saw the sign hanging in my hallway I received a new book to review on my blog called “A Pocketful of Seeds“. This is a book that has 365 Seeds (or short devotions) for each day of the year. Each one is less than a page long and is followed by a “Daily Seed” which is a call to action.

Some examples of the Daily Seed include:  Act on something you’ve been intending to do, Make an elderly person’s day, Find joy in your journey today and pass it on to someone else, Who is influenced by you? Lead that person, How can you lighten the load of another today?, Pray for an enemy, and so many more. 

I am sharing this book with you today for 2 reasons:

1. Please keep it in mind in your gift-giving in the months to come. I can’t think of a better gift to receive to start January by taking the focus off ourselves and our own goals and on to how we can sow seeds into the lives of those around us.
2. To inspire you to do small things with great love. Do not discount the small seeds that are sown on a daily basis. We may not see the fruit immediately but the Lord will water them and they will grow into beautiful, fruit-bearing trees in due season.
