I am so excited to share a new children’s devotional book on prayer with you!  When I received this book in the mail from Tommy Nelson Publishers to review I prayed about how God wanted me to use this resource.  I never want to post anything on my blog that I don’t truly love or think will be useful to my readers.  I immediately felt God tell me to have Ellie, my 9 year old daughter, do the book review.  I gave the book to Ellie, told her to begin reading it and to take notes as she did so she could help me write a blog post on it.  She was very excited to do it!

I tried not to hover over Ellie with this project because I wanted to give her a chance to learn to pray and hear God’s voice.  I was blown away by the fruit that immediately showed up in her life as she began to read this book.  Here are a few of her notes she took:

In case you can’t read her writing in the photo above, her notes say:

  • Find a “prayer friend” who prays with you
  • Write your prayers
  • Pray in your bed
  • Set an alarm to remind you(she loved this one!)

She also told me “Mom, I noticed that I wanted to read the Bible more because of reading this book.  It always had a scripture verse with the devotional so it made me interested to read the whole story that goes with that verse.”

When I asked her what she would tell any mom who was thinking of buying this book for their child she said “I would tell them that this book has really inspired and encouraged me to pray and read the Bible more.  I really enjoy praying more now.  I think every kid needs this book.”

I’m so thankful God lead me to have Ellie review this book.  Prayer is so powerful because it aligns our heart with God’s.
