This is a prayer I have been whispering to the Lord lately. Read on to hear why…

I’ve been in a weird season of letting go of things I was once called to while not knowing what is next. Yet, I have heard the Lord speak so clearly the current season I am in is one of tending to my kids, husband, and our business. It’s been a deeply rewarding, yet hidden season.

I sense God will soon be asking me to step out in the public eye again. Yet, I hear Him inviting me to approach it differently. When the temptation to strive or run ahead and try to open doors that aren’t mine to walk through, I whisper “Find me in the field.”

It’s a prayer that came to me as I reflected on the life of David, when he was minding his own business tending to the sheep in his field when Samuel was searching for the next king to anoint:

(Read this full passage from 1 Samuel 16:6-11):

“When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.” Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.” Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”

I love that David wasn’t even in the lineup to be chosen as king. Yet, God found him in the field. God was drawn to David’s heart.

Maybe you can relate to being in an unseen season? God has His eye on you. He is proud of you for tending to the field He has you in the this season. Be faithful with what’s right in front of you and tend to your heart.

Whisper this prayer when you are tempted to strive or manipulate into a position…

“God, You can find me in the field.”

When was the last time someone asked you this question?

Today’s word we are discussing comes from Proverbs 4:23, “Guard your heart, for it determines the course of your life.”

Take time to tend to your heart, my friends!
