Can you believe August is almost here?! This means it’s back to school time!  Last year we homeschooled full time and even then there was a ton of stuff to get ready as we prepared for groups, co-ops, sports, and more.

A few summers ago God gave me a word that came in the form of a vision that was so powerful that I use it every summer as I prepare to get back into the groove of all the functions both me and my kids participate in. He showed me the image of a beautiful puzzle Him and I were putting together. It was big like one of the 1000 piece puzzles and each piece was stunning though I couldn’t quite see the end picture. As we each picked up pieces to fill in the gaps of the puzzle I came to some pieces that I began to try to cram in so they would fit. But no matter which direction I turned them they simply did not fit my puzzle. In that moment God showed me there are things I committed to that do not fit my masterpiece of life He has pre-appointed for me. I had been picking up puzzle pieces from other puzzles(ie: other people’s lives) and trying to cram them into mine.

He had me write down everything I was committed to for the coming year and tear them into little pieces like a puzzle. He then began to have me to tear up and throw away the ones that He did not place in my puzzle. After I did that I began to make plans to clear those things that He asked me to remove in a graceful way. I made sure each of those things were well taken care of before I said “no” to them because I believe in being a woman of my word.

That little activity has been so freeing for me. Every year I do this and every year God shows me things I’ve picked up along the way that do not fit my puzzle. As you begin your next season of life I challenge you to take a moment and ask God “Does the piece fit?” I believe you will find clarity, focus and peace to walk boldly in the direction of your dreams. When we allow God to speak it releases His anointing on our lives. Don’t be afraid to lay some things down today if He ask you to.
