GETTING TO KNOW RACHAEL
While Rachael was born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma, she now calls Texas her home. As the youngest of five children, Rachael clung to the label of shy most of her life.
When she moved to Texas for her husband to attend chiropractic school, she was forced outside her shell as she found herself in a big city with no community. As a mom to three young kids, Rachael began to teach group fitness. She discovered she loved working with women and decided to further her education and returned to graduate school after being a stay at home mom for a decade.
Rachael has overcome her own battles with anxiety, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia, and she loves to help other women in their journey to freedom. She also specializes in marriage counseling, specifically communication skills.

APPROACH & STYLE
Rachael received her Bachelor of Science in Health & Exercise Science from The University of Oklahoma and graduated from The King’s University with her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in Spring 2021.
In therapy, Rachael believes the root thoughts affect our mood and our mood, or feeling, affects our behavior. Rachael takes an eclectic approach to therapy as no two clients are created equal. Some of these theories include Family Systems Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centered, Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Rachael is a trauma informed therapist and utilizes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) as a form of treatment with patients who are stuck in their trauma.
Rachael considers it a great honor to be part of a client’s therapy process and does not take that responsibility lightly. She creates a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment and commits to come alongside her clients each step of the way.
COUPLES COUNSELING
As a Gottman trained therapist, Rachael loves to help couples learn healthy communication and conflict resolution skills. She also offers pre-marital counseling as a Prepare-Enrich facilitator.
ADVENTURES & COURAGE
Rachael loves to get outdoors with her husband and kids whenever possible. They love to hike, cycle, run, and explore. Their greatest adventure to date was hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim in one day! She has been married for more than 16 years and raising tweens and teens. As parents of girls and a boy, they love to support True Girl, Born to be Brave, and XO Marriage.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an integrated approach to wellness and mental health?
It’s all about teamwork! By incorporating a primary care medical provider into your mental health care, I am able to gain a much more holistic and complete view of your health. The primary care medical providers I work with are highly trained to review medications, supplements, and look for physical symptoms that may be affecting your mental health. By working together with a medical provider, I can offer professional counseling that is more direct and effective. When medical providers and professional counselors work together; patients benefit!
Why will I see a medical provider on my first visit?
In order to provide the best possible care for you, I’ve chosen to work with primary care medical providers who are highly trained to identify physical symptoms that may be affecting your mental health. As our world continues to get smaller, health insurances are seeing the benefits that patient’s gain when seeing a team of providers in an integrated medical practice. Standards of care are continuing to trend towards taking a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. With this in mind, patient’s benefit when medical providers and professional counselors combine their expertise to offer a complete view of a patient’s health. By visiting with a medical provider on your first visit, I am then able to focus completely on your mental health knowing that all possible causes of your symptoms are being addressed. It’s a win-win for both counselor and patient!
Do you take insurance?
YES! We take most forms of insurance. Cash rates are also available for self-pay. Cash rates to be expected on your visit range from $99-$120.
Are you a Christian counselor?
As a believer, I do consider myself a Christian counselor. Christian counseling combines faith with the principles of psychology. However, I always respect my client and their beliefs and will only utilize Christian counseling with the consent of the client.
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.
